solar eclipse

14 oct 2023

got out pretty early (especially for a week-end) to see the eclipse. i was pretty lucky to have the sun and moon align during both my favorite weather, and also favorite time of day to be in nature.

i was pretty unlucky to be a bit too drowsy to operate a camera that well.

the eclipse shining through some clouds- only a small sliver of the sun is visible. the clouds appear dark grey in the shade but there are less dense spots where they appear a light gold color. in the bottom right there is an oak tree, it looks completely black cuz its the shaded side. the eclipse covered up by the clouds. the clouds appear dark grey in the shade but there are less dense spots where they appear a light gold color.
me playing peek-a-boo with the sun and moon :-)

my best attempt to take a photo through the solar eclipse glasses i wore between taking the photos. what, you thought i would go out staring into the sun without glasses?

photo of the eclipse through sunshades meant for eyes. you can see most of the sun covered up.

from my experience, pointing your phone camera at an eclipsed sun for a while doesn’t cause any noticable damage, its worked perfectly since then. a few of the photos turned out with cool looking artefacts

the eclipse in some more clear sky, theres some bands of color on a nearby cloud from the sunshine the eclipse in some clouds. the clouds appear dark grey in the shade but there are less dense spots where they appear a light gold color. in the bottom right there is an oak tree, it looks completely black cuz its the shaded side. and a greenish artefact showing an imprint of the eclipse is over the tree the sun with two large rays comming off of it in opposite directions, each ray expands in about 20 degrees from a point on the surface of the sun
